Lynnwood Healthy Communities: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument

Lynnwood's Veterans Park to Receive a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument

GSFMM

The City of Lynnwood is pleased to announce that our city has been selected to receive a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, which serves to honor the families of servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the US military.

The new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument will be installed in Lynnwood’s Veterans Park this fall. In addition to the installation of the monument, Veterans Park will undergo capital improvements to enhance the aesthetic and functionality of the park. This will include ADA parking stalls, accessible pathway, bench seating, expanded plaza area, and landscape renovation.

The project to bring Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments to all 50 states was started in 2010 by Hershel “Woody” Williams, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient from WWII. The Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation is dedicated to honoring and paying tribute to families who have sacrificed a loved one in service of their country. The project is also supported by the Washington State Gold Star Mothers.

This will be the fourth Gold Star Families Memorial Monument erected in Washington State. A sincere thank you to your partners Washington State Gold Star Mothers, Woody Williams Foundation, VFW Local Post 1040, and OM Stone.
