Striping for 196th St SW Traffic Shift
Crews will not be working December 24, 2021 – January 2, 2022
Traffic Impacts
- The 40th Ave W and 196th St SW intersection will be closed to traffic December 16 and 17
- Local access to driveways and parking lots will be maintained throughout this closure
- Detours will be in place for people driving
- Traffic lanes were shifted to the north side of 196th St SW on December 10, 2021.
As work progresses, please follow all pedestrian and traffic control.
Ongoing Daytime and Nighttime Work
Intermittent nighttime work for water main installations will be ongoing throughout the project. Work will take place along 196th St SW, starting at 48th Ave W and progressing east. Temporary overnight water shutoffs are required to safely complete this work; affected businesses and residents will be notified in advance. Typical work hours are from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Weeks of December 6, 2021 and December 13, 2021
The following work will take place over the next several weeks:
48th Ave W to 40th Ave W
- Shifting all traffic lanes to the north side of 196th St SW on December 10
- Sewer line work heading west to east (this work does not require utility shutoffs)
- Converting overhead utilities to underground
- Digging (potholing) to confirm underground utility locations
- Irrigation work
- Roadway excavation and grading
- Curb, gutter, and sidewalk work
- Sidewalk grading
- Retaining wall installations
- Paving
- Clearing vegetation on the south side of 196th St SW
- Waterline installations and water service placements
- Temporary water shutoffs are required; affected businesses and residents will be notified in advance via door hangers. Interruptions will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Other areas of work
- Equipment and materials will be staged along 195th Pl SW for the duration of the project
