MLK Jr. Day of Service

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we are encouraging community members to find safe ways to celebrate MLK Jr. legacy of service.

Here are some ideas:

Donate blood

Bring a meal to a neighbor in need

Pick up garbage in your neighborhood

Help an older adult with yard work

Host a virtual discussion about Dr. King's life and teachings

Put together your own emergency preparedness kit, and one for a neighbor: www.ready.gov/kit 

Find a local volunteer opportunity via AmeriCorps: www.nationalservice.gov/serve/search

Attend the virtual event "Becoming Brave" - a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspiring a beloved community in song, spoken word and dance presented by Lift Every Voice Legacy in partnership with Communities of Color Coalition. Register here: beloved4all.org

Operation Warm Veterans

Hero’s Café, Homage Senior Services, American Red Cross, and Lynnwood Senior Center are sponsoring a drive-thru cold weather donation event on January 9^th at Homage, located at 5026 196^th Street SW in Lynnwood. 

Cold weather gear including winter clothing, camping tarps, and gift card donations will be accepted for distribution to low-income and unsheltered Veterans.  For those unable to attend the event, donations will additionally be accepted at Homage the week of January 4^th between the hours of 9am – 4pm.

Recreate Responsibility - Winter Edition

As seasons change, so do our practices to stay safe outside and to protect the places we play! The winter environment changes quickly and access points may be more limited. Here are some tips to help you #RecreateResponsibly this season.

The City’s priority is protecting the health and safety of our visitors. Always follow Public Health guidelines when visiting Lynnwood Parks, pease do your part, wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart.
