FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Lynnwood Selects New IT Director Will Cena to oversee the Information Technology Department
LYNNWOOD, WA (January 28, 2020) - On Tuesday, January 22, 2020, Mayor Nicola Smith formally announced her selection for the City's next Information Technology Director. Will Cena, long-time Lynnwood employee has been selected to serve as the City's new IT Director. He has been serving as the Interim Director since February 2019.
IT Director Will Cena was joined by his wife Patty and daughter Olivia as he was formally introduced to the Lynnwood City Council as the City's next Information Technology Director.
"Director Will Cena has been a dedicated and trusted member of our IT team for many years," stated Mayor Nicola Smith. "Will is an effective leader, problem solver and great collaborator, and he is going to play a crucial role on our City's leadership team as we strategically move our city forward."
Director Cena has worked for the City of Lynnwood for almost 15 years. He was hired as a Computer Systems Engineer and was promoted to IT Systems Manager, and now selected to serve as IT Director. Cena has over 20 years of experience in IT and brings with him a deep understanding of management and technical expertise. Throughout his career, Cena has been responsible for all aspects of IT, including application support and development, network architecture and administration, end-user support and training, and project management. He has worked in the public sector his whole career.
Director Cena holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an emphasis in Information Technology Management. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, holds other numerous technical certifications, and is an alum of Leadership Snohomish County. He is in the Air Force Reserves at Joint Base Lewis-McChord but plans to retire in July, completing 22 years of service.
