FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lynnwood Receives Clean Audit From State Auditor's Office

LYNNWOOD, WA (August 23, 2018) - The State Auditor's Office recently completed Lynnwood's 2017 Financial Statement Audit, Single Audit of Federal Grants, and Accountability Audit. For the second year in a row, the State Auditor's Office found that the City of Lynnwood was in compliance with all accounting principles, laws, regulations, contracts, grant agreements and internal controls, and no findings were issued.

This year the State Auditor's focus was financial condition, self-insurance, courts cash receipting and disbursements, permit center billing, third party receipting, and credit card purchases and compliance. These areas represent the highest risk of fraud, loss, abuse, or noncompliance.

"I am incredibly proud of the great work our finance and accounting staff have done to ensure our city's finances are accurate and transparent," stated Finance Director Sonja Springer. "It is our duty to ensure financial stewardship of taxpayer resources, and it takes dedication from the Mayor, City Council and our staff to achieve this level of financial excellence." The City also received a clean audit opinion with no findings for 2016.
