LYNNWOOD, WA (January 24, 2018) - Over the past three weeks there were a total of four bank robberies in Lynnwood.  All the suspects believed to be responsible for those robberies are now in custody.  Below is a brief synopsis of those robberies and arrests:

January 3, 2018 – A Wells Fargo branch in the 6400 blk of 196th St SW was robbed by a subject who claimed to have an explosive device.   That suspect was arrested yesterday by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office after committing a similar robbery just north of the City of Lynnwood.  That suspect, a mid-50’s year old male, confessed to the Lynnwood robbery after being captured.  He has been booked at the Snohomish County Jail along with an accomplice, who was the getaway car driver.

January 9, 2018 – A Wells Fargo branch in the 2600 blk of 196th St SW was robbed by a subject who passed a note demanding money and then fled on foot.  Lynnwood officers and detectives identified the suspect and were able to locate him later that day.  He was arrested and booked at the Snohomish County Jail.

January 18, 2018 – A Wells Fargo branch in the 2600 blk of 196th St SW was robbed by a subject who passed a note demanding money.  The suspect fled but was not captured.  Detectives working the case were able to link the suspect to an attempted robbery earlier in the day in Seattle.

January 22, 2018 – A US Bank branch in the 4400 blk of 196th ST SW was robbed by the same subject from the robbery on January 18, 2018. Lynnwood detectives were following leads and had identified the subject from these robberies.  That identification was the result of a tip that came in from a media viewer, who saw the photographs from these robberies and called Lynnwood detectives.

Detectives were in the process of looking for suspect when he robbed another bank, in Bellevue, today.  Witnesses told responding officers that the suspect got into a taxi.  The taxi was traced to downtown Seattle were the suspect was apprehended by Bellevue PD.  Bellevue and Lynnwood detectives are interviewing the suspect and are working together on these cases. The suspect, a mid-30’s male, will be booked into the King County Jail.

In total there were four bank robberies in the City of Lynnwood this month.  These suspects have now been taken into custody but the investigations are still ongoing to determine if anyone else was involved.  All suspects captured have admitted their role in these crimes.

These arrests are the direct result of excellent inter-agency cooperation along with information from observant community members and employees, whose leads and actions led to the apprehension of these suspects.  If anyone has additional information about these robberies please contact Detective Jorgensen at 425.670.5632.
