FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lynnwood Police Investigating a Shooting Incident at Motel
LYNNWOOD, WA (January 4, 2018) - Police responded to the
parking lot of the Rodeo Inn (20700 block of Hwy 99) for a report of gunshots a
little after 7:00 PM last night (January 3). Arriving officers learned a male subject was
causing a disturbance in the parking lot and at one point brandished what
looked like a handgun; the subject threatened several people in the immediate area
(later it was determined the weapon was a pellet gun). The
threatening male then got into a vehicle and started moving through the parking
lot. Another male from the motel produced a handgun and fired several
shots at the male who had been causing the disturbance. At least one
round struck another vehicle in the parking lot (which was unoccupied) and
another round struck the exterior of the nearby Walgreen’s building. Thankfully nobody
was struck or injured by the gunfire. The shooter was initially believed
to have returned to a room at the motel. Out of an abundance of
caution, the motel was briefly evacuated until police determined the shooter
had left the scene prior to police arrival. The male subject who was
causing the initial disturbance was arrested for felony harassment. The incident remains under investigation.
