If you've been wondering what's the latest news on the 10-year Healthy Communities Action Plan, it's been making its way through the official City adoption process. The Action Plan was approved by resolution by the Lynnwood City Council on May 9, 2016. Over the summer, the Plan was incorporated into a proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment which was presented to the Planning Commission in September.
For the Plan to formally be amended and adopted into the City's Comprehensive Plan, the changes will be presented to the City Council on Monday, October 17th followed by a Public Hearing at the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, October 26th. Members of the public and supporters of the Action Plan are invited to these public meetings. Public comments will be accepted at the Public Hearing on October 26th and at any regular business meeting of the City Council on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month. All meetings begin at 7pm and are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall. In addition, the Healthy Communities Program budget will be presented to the City Council on Wednesday, October 19th. The City's Public Hearing on the 2017/2018 Budget will be on Monday, November 14th.
All Comprehensive Plan amendments that are accepted will be approved by the City Council potentially at their meeting on November 28th. Once formally adopted, the Healthy Communities team will officially begin taking steps to implement the plan with YOU over the next ten years and details of the final plan and next steps will be posted to the City's website.
We thank all of our planning partners, stakeholders, and committee members for joining us on this two year journal to create a plan that represents the community's need. We look forward to the advancing this work with you in the coming weeks, months and years to create Healthy Communities in Lynnwood!
