Lift Station and Force Main 16 Project

ls16 5-24-16

Project will intercept flows that currently flow to Lift Station 10 which is near capacity. The Lift Station site is located just north of 196th Street SW on the west side of 56th Avenue W. The new force main will convey sewage from Lift Station 16 to an existing flow control structure just west of 68th Avenue W and 204th Street SW intersection.

Work this week included, from the week starting May 16th:

Force Main: The crew moved closer to demobilizing the project by completing the grind and overlay for the air vacuum assemblies, scheduling the grind and overlay for 68th Avenue, 202nd Street, and 196th Street, completing punch list items for Scriber Lake Road and 60th Avenue, and planning for the hydrostatic pressure test. They scheduled the remaining grind and overlay, the exception is 56th Avenue, for Thursday and Friday, May 26th and 27th. 56th Avenue will be grind and overlay just after the lift station is constructed.

At the force main discharge, which is at a flow control structure on Edmonds Community College, Pivetta installed a blind flange with a valve to regulate the amount of air and water that will be removed from the force main as it is filled. The crew also grouted the gravity main into MH #1B on 56th Avenue so that water wouldn’t penetrate the structure and flow into the wet well.

Lift Station:The CMU installation continued through the week.  On Friday, Fairweather started the outside brick veneer installation. The electrician and block-layers continued working closely together to assure correct conduit paths were maintained.  This task required rebar and electrical inspections. Shinn received a final inspection on the force main that leaves the metering vault and the connection of the ROW force main.  The inspector allowed them to cover that fitting.  The site contractor continued to complete the rough grade. The structural steel footings and building flashing were also installed.

Next week starting May 23rd:

Force Main:  The crew will be preparing and conducting a hydrostatic pressure test of the force main pipe and, weather permitting, a grind and overlay on 68th Avenue, and 202nd and 196th Streets.

Lift Station:  The brick veneer for the building will continue.
