Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation launches new website

Website offers a new way to support the City's Parks & Recreation Programs

LYNNWOOD, WA (June 3, 2015) - The Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the organization’s website at www.lynnwoodparksfoundation.org. The time taken to design the website was a great opportunity for the board to review all the various projects and programs that the Foundation supports in partnership with the City of Lynnwood. The new website categorizes these endeavors in an exciting, easy-to-navigate, and informative format.

“The Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation was formed some ten years ago to support the City’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department,” said Foundation President Lynn Sordel. “In an effort to increase the Foundation’s support of Lynnwood’s parks system and recreation programs, we needed a way to make the opportunities for community support more accessible. Our new website does just that, but even more it shows the depth of parks and programming and capital projects, both now and in the future, that seek corporate and public support.”

Visit www.lynnwoodparksfoundation.org and learn about the Foundation’s mission and ways to support parks and recreation in Lynnwood. Individuals and businesses alike can donate online. Further, visitors can learn about current restoration plans, events, camp scholarships, memorial giving options and more.

Registration for "Par 4 Kids," the Foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year is also available. This golf tournament supports the Recreation Benefit Fund, which provides financial assistance for children, seniors and disabled adults who wish to participate in recreation activities. A scramble format tournament, it includes lunch and prizes and takes place at the Lynnwood Golf Course on Friday, July 31.

The Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has received a number of gifts over the years from the city’s business community, starting with Starbucks. More recently a significant gift from Total Wine & More to celebrate the opening of their new Lynnwood location was received. Swedish/Edmonds, Verity Credit Union, Whole Planet Foundation and Community Transit are also past and current contributors.

“Our corporate supporters understand the importance of clean, safe parks and good community programs as a driver for economic development,” said Sordel. “Our residents see parks and recreation as a way to revitalize neighborhoods, positively affect property values, and provide opportunities for social interaction and physical activity.”

The Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation invites the community to join them in their passion for parks and recreation. Donations are tax deductible and start at just $25. Visit the new website today, and keep visiting as projects and events will be updated continuously.
