Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival has been a source of pride for our state and valley for 105 years. I have fond memories of participating in the youth parade and Apple Blossom years ago and now riding in the parade with my family as our State Senator. This year, we will enjoy the musical, food fair, performances in the park, and more. Everyone who lives here seems to connect to the festival in some way, which makes it very special.

Apple Blossom Royalty visits State Senate

I was proud to host our Apple Blossom royalty during their visit to the State Capitol. This year’s Royal Court (L to R) includes Princess Lexie Fennell, Queen Ella Stimmel, and Princess Jenissa Hepton. These ladies did an excellent job representing the Wenatchee Valley. The festival takes place April 25 – May 5.

Apple Blossom Festival: April 25 – May 5

I hosted the 2024 Apple Blossom Royal Court at the State Capitol this session to promote the festival. The Royal Court was friendly, professional, and impressive. The Apple Blossom Festival is one of the most recognizable celebrations in Washington state. Many of my Senate colleagues immediately think of Apple Blossom when they see the royal court at the Capitol. I look forward to enjoying our 105th annual Apple Blossom Festival with my family. Many thanks to everyone in our region who helps make our annual festival a big success every year.

The GESA Credit Union sponsors entertainment at Wenatchee’s Memorial Park throughout the Apple Blossom Festival. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the food fair and local performances. Click to view the 2024 Entertainment Schedule.

Hawkins childhood

I have great memories of the Apple Blossom Festival during my 1980s childhood in Wenatchee. Here is a photo of my first youth parade. (I’m the boy in the middle with reddish hair). Seated with me are my childhood friends, A.J. Lane of Cashmere (left) and Carl Schreck of Wenatchee (right).

Funnel Cakes are always a popular dessert at the food fair. My favorite items are the gyros, elephant ears, and kettle corn. “Dippin Dots” is a favorite with my kids.

Watch my royalty interview and their song!

Part of my tradition with the Apple Blossom Royalty each year during the State Capitol visit includes an interview and debut of the annual Apple Blossom Song. This year’s interview took place in the Senate chambers near my floor desk and the song upstairs in the hallway overlooking the Capitol Rotunda, which is the inside of the Capitol Dome. In the interview, we get hear about the upcoming festival and discuss fun food fare treats. This year's Apple Blossom song is set to a popular Taylor Swift song.
