The 2019 Apple Blossom Royal Court: Princess Elizabeth Popoff (left), Queen Savannah Slife (middle), and Princess Olivia Lancaster (right).
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
During this year’s 105-day legislative session, I always enjoy seeing individuals or groups from the 12th District who come to Olympia, so it was a special treat for me to meet with the 2019 Apple Blossom Royal Court during their visit to the Capitol Tuesday. This year’s Royal Court are Queen Savannah Slife, Princess Elizabeth Popoff, and Princess Olivia Lancaster.
I always enjoy “Apple Blossom Day” at the Capitol because of the opportunity to host our festival ambassadors and help promote the Wenatchee Valley. The queen and princesses continued their Capitol visit tradition by meeting our 12th District Representatives Mike Steele and Keith Goehner, Secretary of State Kim Wyman, and Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib. I also had the opportunity to introduce our Apple Blossom ambassadors to some of my legislative colleagues.
With the legislative session scheduled to end April 28, I hope to make it back home to enjoy part of our 100th annual Apple Blossom Festival with my family, which starts April 25th and ends May 5th.
I enjoyed interviewing the Apple Blossom Royalty during their State Capitol visit.
2019 Apple Blossom Royalty interview and song
I enjoyed interviewing the queen and princesses in the Capitol Rotunda about their visit to the Capitol and the Apple Blossom Festival. Once again, the Royal Court’s visit to Olympia included the debut of their “royalty song” about the festival. Click here to enjoy the video of the interview and this year’s song.
Secretary of State Kim Wyman pre-registered the Royal Court to vote.
Secretary of State pre-registers Royalty to vote
Between their visit with Lieutenant Governor Habib and return to the Senate chamber for the adoption of my Senate resolution honoring the festival, I introduced the queen and princesses to Secretary of State Wyman. I had arranged for our state’s chief elections officer to personally pre-register them to vote, as allowed by state law for 16- and 17-year-olds. It was one of the highlights of my day to see how intelligent and talented these three ladies are and to now know they will be participating in our election process and issued ballots once they turn 18. Although it has been only a few weeks since the selection pageant, our royalty were fabulous ambassadors for the festival during their busy day in Olympia. My official Senate resolution is below. I encourage everyone to participate in and enjoy this year’s festival.
