We are already 20% through the 2020 legislative session. That's almost hard to believe. These 60-day sessions always move quickly.
I had an opportunity to sit down with Austin Jenkins of TVW's Inside Olympia yesterday to talk about what has happened in the first two weeks of session and what to expect the rest of the way. We discussed issues such as housing, homelessness, public safety, gun rights, broadband, state spending, and working with the new Speaker of the House. You can watch the interview here. House Republicans continue to be focused on safety, affordability and accountability. And many of our bills and solutions reflect these legislative priorities.
For example, in the first week of the session, we introduced a plan for $30 car tabs and a new funding source for transportation -- without raising taxes. You can learn more below.

Washingtonians sent a strong message last November with the passage of I-976 -- $30 car tabs. Unfortunately, lawsuits were filed to stop the implementation of the initiative. The issue is now tied up in our court system, while higher car tabs remain in place.
We have unveiled a plan that would implement $30 car tabs, establish a new funding source for transportation and cut bureaucracy -- not projects -- at WSDOT. And the plan would not raise taxes. Learn more:
The tragic shootings in Seattle this week remind us how vulnerable our communities can be to violence and crime. One of our legislative priorities is safety. And an important part of ensuring public safety is supporting our law enforcement professionals.
House Republican Floor Leader Jacquelin Maycumber has introduced a package of bills that would streamline and improve law enforcement training, increase the number of training classes available for new recruits, and provide more opportunities for law enforcement in underserved areas. The rain couldn't stop hundreds of people from coming to Olympia on Tuesday for the annual March for Life. Several of our members participated in the event on the Capitol steps. Rep.
