Change of Value Notices are being mailed in June
Change of Value Notices are set to be mailed to property taxpayers on June 26th. If a value notice was not mailed for your property, your assessed value has not changed from the prior year. The Assessor is required by state law to appraise all taxable property at 100% of the market value (RCW 84.40.030). These notices are determined based on the value of the property as of January 1, 2026, and will be used to calculate the 2027 property taxes. An illustration of the valuation timeline can be found here.
You can review your value and property characteristics on the Parcel Details tool that is available online.

If you disagree with this new value, you have 60 days from the date on the notice to file an appeal with the Board of Equalization. The Assessor’s Office is also available to answer any questions that you may have.

New Construction Inspections are underway
One of the responsibilities of the Assessor is to add all the newly constructed real property to the tax roll each year. During the late spring and summer months, appraisers from the office conduct new construction visits throughout the county. These visits are made to verify the percentage of completion of the improvements as of July 31st. This new value will be added to the tax roll for next year’s tax distribution calculation.
If an appraiser from the office arrives on your property this time of year, it is most likely to verify any improvements you are making to the property. Please feel free to ask an appraiser any questions you may have.

Senior Citizen and Disabled Persons Exemption Renewal
If you or someone you know is currently receiving the Senior/Disabled Property Tax Exemption, a renewal application must be submitted every four years. At the beginning of May, the office mailed renewal notifications to those who are required to renew their exemption this year. If you have received a renewal letter, the completed application and supporting income documents need to be submitted to the office by July 13th, otherwise you risk being removed from the program and receiving a new property tax bill for the full amount. Renewing is simple and can be done online! Go here to access to the online renewal application and additional information.
