We want our interns to walk away with experience in applying the principles and theories learned in the classroom, gain new skills, explore a career path and be supervised and mentored by professionals in their field.

Accounting Intern - Auditor's Office
$22.45 - $23.59 Hourly Learn about governmental accounting, participate in our annual financial statement preparation process, and perform assigned tasks that support the work we do.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to show proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution at the time of internship. If the internship occurs during the summer, the student may provide proof of summer or fall enrollment.
Desired Majors and Class Level
- Finance, accounting, or another related field.

Elections Intern - Auditor's Office
$18.65 - $19.60 Hourly Help us this summer with voter registration and elections work relating to the import and validation of online voter data and verification of voter identity and voter record maintenance. Learn to interpret and apply the requirements of state and federal statutes as they relate to elections and voter registration, assist and interact with the public, process ballots, and perform all aspects of duties delegated by the County Canvassing Board.

- Public Administration, Business Administration, Management Studies or related field.

Construction Management Intern - Public Works
$24.35 - $25.58 Hourly Learn to assist Construction Managers and Engineering Construction Inspectors on road projects, including drainage, paving, resurfacing, asphalt, curb and sidewalks, subgrade placement, storm and sewer pipe, and installation of culverts. These positions are a combination of office and field observation work.

Engineering Tech - Sewer Utility Intern- Public Works
$24.35 - $25.58 Hourly Learn to assist with a variety of tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of the County's four wastewater treatment plants and 60 associated pumping stations, as well as a variety of entry-level construction management and engineering assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to show proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution at the time of internship. If the internship occurs during the summer, the student may provide proof of summer or fall enrollment.
- Engineering mathematics applicable to the area of assignment.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans, maps, specifications, drafting terminology, and symbols.
- Ability to conduct research and gather data efficiently in a reasonably logical manner.
- Perform basic computer operations using MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Work successfully within the context of a team environment.
