Kingston Regional Stormwater Facility Update

Kitsap County Public Works is making infrastructure improvements along Ohio Avenue between Central Avenue NE and Highway 104 in Kingston.

Kitsap County Public Works began the Kingston Regional Stormwater Facility project last fall. While the project is nearing completion, poor weather conditions have suspended the project. We will resume final paving and concrete work when the weather allows.

We apologize for this inconvenience and look forward to completion in the coming weeks.

What to Expect During Construction:

• Ohio Avenue remains closed between Central Avenue and Main Street.
• Intermittent closure of the Central Avenue and Washington Blvd intersection.
• Road Closure schedule to be determined as the contractor progresses.
• Private parking on properties adjacent to Ohio Avenue will remain open during the project.
• Periodic traffic delays.
• Construction noise.

This project serves the central Kingston urban growth area (UGA) and will improve water quality. The project has several benefits and will:

• Improve water quality by addressing stormwater treatment system deficiencies.
• Create a regional water quality treatment facility that will treat approximately 65 acres of drainage.
• Install a total of six underground stormwater treatment vaults on Ohio Avenue between Central and Main and the intersection of Central and Washington.
• Add new sidewalks on both sides of Ohio Avenue between Central Avenue and Main Street.

Underground vaults capture runoff from rain and snow. The vaults are filled with materials that filter and remove pollutants. The clean water is released into Puget Sound.
