Critical Areas Ordinance - Periodic Update

CRITICAL AREAS ORDINANCE (CAO) UPDATE Working Group Meetings

The Department of Community Development staff continues to move forward with the CAO update process. The second set of CAO Update Working Group meetings for the following critical areas have been scheduled and will be conducted via Zoom.

• Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas (CARA): Tuesday, October 31^st @ 1pm – 4pm
• Frequently Flooded Areas (FFA): Monday, November 6^th @ 1pm – 4pm
• Wetlands: Thursday, November 30^th @ 9am – 12pm
• Fish & Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas (FWHCA): Tuesday, December 12^th @ 9am – 12pm

The working group members will review and discuss the required and recommended code changes based on the Best Available Science summary, recommendations contained in the Consistency and Gap Analysis report, and discretionary requests made by County staff. The working group meetings are open to the public, however, public comment and/or questions will not be taken during the meetings. Questions and comments can be sent to codeupdates@kitsap.gov.
