Kitsap County Department of Community Development released its’ Best Available Science (BAS) summary concerning the Critical Areas Ordinance periodic update, with adoption planned for June 2024. The Best Available Science summary fulfills the requirement that Kitsap County must document scientific sources that inform its’ regulations. However, the Best Available Science summary is not intended to evaluate County codes. A Consistency and Gap AnalysisReport will be posted for review in late June 2023 to identify policies and regulations that are recommended to be updated based on science and/or to comply with state law.
We encourage you to review the BAS summary and other project information available on the project webpage. You can provide feedback on the BAS or any portion of the project by emailing codeupdates@kitsap.gov.
