The Department of Community Development is conducting a required periodic review of the County’s Critical Areas Ordinance, Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 19. The Critical Areas Ordinance will be updated in conjunction with the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update, with adoption planned in June of 2024.
The purpose of the 2024 update is to:
Align the CAO with applicable state laws and guidelines in effect at the time of the review;
Assure consistency of the CAO with the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan and development regulations; and
Provide existing code clarifications to improve usability and predictability for applicants and reviewers.
