Health advisories issued for Dyes Inlet and Port Washington Narrows due to sewage overflow
No-contact advisory in effect through Jan. 14; shellfish harvesting closure in effect until further notice.
Affected area: Dyes Inlet and Port Washington Narrows
Warning signs will be posted at public access points.
No-Contact Advisory: A no-contact advisory is in effect through Jan. 14.
During a no-contact advisory, the public is advised to avoid contact with water in the affected area. The Health District recommends against swimming, wading, or types of water recreation that could cause water to be swallowed or get into the mouth, nose or eyes. People should also avoid direct skin contact if possible and immediately wash with soap and clean water if they have exposure to the water.
Be aware that because of extreme high tides, pooled water near shorelines could also be contaminated.
Shellfish Harvesting Closure: A shellfish harvesting advisory is in effect until further notice.
The public is advised to not harvest shellfish in the affected area during this closure period. All existing shellfish advisories remain in effect. Go to doh.wa.gov/shellfishsafety for details.
