COVID Testing Site Reopens; Numerous Testing Options Remain Available
KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, Kitsap Public Health District and the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center are re-opening a community testing site at the City of Bremerton Harborside Garage at 100 Washington Ave. This testing site will provide PCR tests via nasal swabs. Starting August 10th, the site will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. but hours may change due to demand. “We are excited to be able to provide this service again in our community in addition to the numerous testing options already available in Kitsap County,” stated Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer, Dr. Gib Morrow.
Earlier this year, the agencies jointly conducted testing sites at various locations throughout the county. More information on the City of Bremerton Harborside Garage can be found at kcowa.us/covidtesting.
Testing is still an important measure our community can take to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Knowing one’s COVID-19 status and following public health guidance are critical in protecting one’s own health and the health of others.
Other testing options remain available, including:
COVID-19 tests at primary care clinics, urgent care clinics, and pharmacies. Individuals should contact their primary care provider to see if they offer testing. Kitsap Public Health maintains a list of urgent care clinics and pharmacies providing COVID-19 testing.
Rapid, over-the-counter COVID-19 tests, such as the BinaxNOW. These tests are available for purchase in Kitsap County pharmacies and provide results within 15 minutes.
Kitsap Public Health also encourages local businesses, agencies, living facilities, schools, sports clubs, and other organizations to offer on-site rapid antigen testing and can assist with obtaining the necessary training and regulatory approval for this additional layer of protection in your facilities. Interested organizations can email prepare@kitsappublichealth.org or call (360) 728-2219 for more information.
Individuals with questions on COVID-19 tests should call their primary care provider or check out CDC’s Viral Testing Tool, an interactive web-based tool that helps healthcare providers and individuals understand COVID-19 testing options. Individuals can also call Kitsap Public Health with their testing questions at (360) 728-2219.
