New variants are spreading in Washington; data from the military give Kitsap's vaccination rate a boost
-
Dangerous, fast-spreading COVID-19 variants, including the Delta and Gamma variants, make up a majority of new cases reported in our state. Vaccines appear to offer good protection against these new virus strains, but variants have the potential to devastate communities where vaccination rates are low.
-
We have updated vaccination rates for Kitsap County in our vaccine distribution dashboard to include residents who were vaccinated through Department of Defense (military) programs. With the addition of vaccinations administered by the military, more than 63% of Kitsap County residents (147,385 people) have had at least one dose of vaccine and 59% are fully vaccinated. You can view the full dashboard at kcowa.us/covid19data.
-
June 30th marks the end of virtually all COVID-19 restrictions on businesses in Washington. Fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear masks or physically distance in most situations. However, individual establishments can still require masking and distancing, and residents are urged to respect rules set by the venues they visit. Unvaccinated people must continue to wear masks and distance from others in indoor spaces and are encouraged to wear masks in crowded outdoor settings.
