COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations increasing; vaccination opens to all adults next week
-
A steady increase in cases and uptick in hospitalizations in recent weeks indicates that COVID-19 is spreading widely in our county and more residents are becoming severely ill. These trends, coupled with variant virus strains gaining momentum in the region, reinforce the need for caution as we move into spring.
- As COVID-19 activity increases, testing remains critical. Test results allow us to track the spread of COVID-19 in our community and notify people who may have been exposed so they can take steps to prevent spreading the virus to others. Get tested if you feel sick or have spent time with someone who has COVID-19. Convenient testing locations are available throughout our county. Learn more at kcowa.us/covid19.
- Starting April 15, everyone 16 and older will be eligible to get the vaccine. However, there will not be enough vaccine available on April 15 for everyone to get a shot immediately. We are asking community members to be patient as they seek vaccination appointments. Supplies will continue to grow and everyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one. Learn more at covidvaccinewa.org.
