COVID-19 cases tick up slightly in region; more people eligible for vaccination

State public health officials report COVID-19 rates have ticked up in Western Washington, raising concern that cases could increase in coming weeks. The rate of COVID-19 cases in Kitsap County climbed slightly in recent days. As vaccination progresses, simple steps such as wearing a mask, distancing, and washing hands remain vital to preventing another wave of illnesses.

What feel like allergy symptoms could be COVID-19. With the return of spring weather, our contact tracers report that some people who have tested positive for COVID-19 at first thought their symptoms were due to allergies. Avoid contact with others and get tested if you experience a runny nose, congestion, sore throat, or other symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
-
More adults are now eligible to get vaccinated for COVID-19. People who already qualified for vaccination, including everyone 65 and older, remain eligible. Go to covidvaccinewa.org or call 1-800-525-0127 to learn who can get vaccinated and how to book an appointment. We are posting local updates at kcowa.us/vacccine
