Kitsap Public Health urging eligible residents to sign up for COVID-19 vaccination appointments this week
Appointments are widely available this week for people who qualify under Phase 1a or Phase 1b, Tier 1. Check your eligibility at findyourphasewa.org. Register for Kitsap Public Health District's vaccine clinic here.
KITSAP COUNTY, WA – Kitsap Public Health District is urging Kitsap County residents who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination to sign up for an appointment as soon as they can.
Many first-dose vaccine appointments are widely available in the county this week for people who qualify under the current phase of vaccination. This includes everyone 65 and older, people 50 and older in multigenerational households, teachers and school staff, childcare workers, healthcare workers, first responders, and caregivers supporting people at high risk from COVID-19 (learn more).
“If you are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine, now is the time to get it," Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Gib Morrow said. "There are appointments available at vaccine sites across our county this week. We know the state plans to open eligibility to more groups later this month, so it could become more difficult to book an appointment if you wait.”
Vaccination will be a critical tool for protecting our health, bringing the COVID-19 pandemic to an end, and getting life back to normal. Studies show that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing people from getting COVID-19, and help protect people from getting seriously ill if they do get COVID-19. Learn more about vaccines at cdc.gov/coronavirus.
“All three of the approved COVID-19 vaccines are safe and very effective at preventing serious illness from COVID-19," Dr. Morrow said. "Do not hesitate to sign up for the first vaccine appointment available to you.”
More than 45,000 Kitsap residents have already received a COVID-19 shot, including more than 50 percent of residents 65 and older.

KEEP FIGHTING COVID-19
More Kitsap County residents are getting vaccinated, but it will take months for the majority of our community to have protection against COVID-19. We need to keep using all the tools we have to slow the spread of the virus:
-
Wear a mask anytime you are around people you don't live with.
-
Keep 6 feet of distance between you and people you don't live with.
-
Wash your hands frequently.
-
Be ready to get vaccinated when you are eligible.
