Weather delaying vaccine shipments; Kitsap Public Health moving second dose appointments to next week
- Severe weather has delayed vaccine shipments bound for Washington state.
- Due to these delays, Kitsap Public Health moved second dose appointments scheduled at our clinic on Feb. 18-19 to next week. We notified affected patients.
- The state approved Kitsap Public Health's second dose request for next week. We have not made any changes to appointments scheduled for Feb. 23-26. We are monitoring the shipping situation closely and will provide updates.
Severe winter weather across the United States has affected shipments of COVID-19 vaccine this week. The Washington State Department of Health reported today that about 90% of shipments coming to our state this week were behind schedule.
Kitsap Public Health was allocated about 400 second doses of Moderna vaccine for this week. That vaccine shipment has been delayed and has not yet arrived. Other vaccine providers in our community may be experiencing similar shipping delays.
Because our vaccine did not arrive on time, we moved all second dose appointments scheduled for our clinic this Thursday and Friday (Feb. 18-19) to next week. We notified all affected patients by email and provided instructions for scheduling second dose appointments for next week.
If you received your first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at our clinic in the former St. Michael (Harrison) hospital in East Bremerton and had a second dose appointment scheduled for Feb. 18 or 19, please check your email and follow instructions to reschedule. If you need assistance, email us at confirmedvaccineappts@kitsappublichealth.org.
The state approved our second dose allocation request for next week and we have not made any changes to second dose appointments scheduled at our clinic for Feb. 23-26. We are monitoring the shipping situation closely. We will update patients as soon as possible if there are any further delays.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding!
