Kitsap Public Health clinic vaccinates 410 community members; will receive only second doses next week
- The state is prioritizing distribution of second (booster) vaccine doses for next week.
- Kitsap Public Health will receive about 400 second doses next week. We will administer those doses to patients who received their first dose at our clinic in January.
- Kitsap Public Health will not receive any first doses of vaccine for next week. We will not be able to provide new vaccine appointments at our clinic.
A community COVID-19 vaccine clinic operated by Kitsap Public Health District and the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center vaccinated 410 people in Bremerton this week.
We focused our limited vaccine supply on vaccinating community members who do not have computer access or have other barriers to getting appointments. Kitsap Public Health staff reached out directly to people who had requested assistance by phone and booked appointments for about 220 individuals. We made the remaining appointment slots available to people who registered for our clinic in January but were unable to book appointments.
While vaccine supplies remain limited, Kitsap County is progressing through Phase 1b Tier 1 of vaccination. Thanks to the efforts of vaccine providers across our county, more than 30% of Kitsap residents 65 and older (approximately 17,800 out of 58,300) have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

SECOND DOSES ARRIVING NEXT WEEK
The state Department of Health is prioritizing distribution of second vaccine doses to vaccine sites to ensure everyone who received a first dose of vaccine can get their second (booster) dose. Patients must receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine a few weeks apart to achieve maximum protection against the illness.
Kitsap Public Health District will receive about 400 second doses of Moderna vaccine next week. We will administer these doses people who received their first dose during a soft opening for our vaccine clinic on Jan. 21 and 22. This was primarily vaccine clinic staff and volunteers.
We expect to receive a second-dose allocation for the week of Feb. 21-27 for patients who received their first dose at our clinic from Jan. 26-29.
If you received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at our community clinic at the former St. Michael (Harrison) Hospital in East Bremerton and have any questions about your second dose appointment, please email ConfirmedVaccineAppts@kitsappublichealth.org.
FIRST DOSE APPOINTMENTS REMAIN LIMITED
As the state prioritizes second dose allocations, first dose appointments will remain very limited.
The state has indicated that Kitsap Public Health will not receive any first doses for next week. This means we will not be able to open new appointments at our vaccine clinic next week. Other providers in the county may have first dose appointments available.
"While it is disappointing to not have more first doses to offer, we are grateful that the state is committed to making sure second doses are available for everyone who received a first dose," Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Gib Morrow said. "Every second dose we administer brings our community one step closer to gaining immunity against this disease."
