Kitsap Public Health receives small vaccine shipment; focusing on equitable access
- Kitsap Public Health District received a last-minute allocation of 400 doses Tuesday.
- To support equitable access to vaccine, we are making appointments available to community members who do not have internet access or have other barriers to getting vaccinated.
- We will reach out directly to people who have already contacted Kitsap Public Health for assistance. Appointments will not be open to the general public for this week's small event.
Kitsap Public Health District received confirmation from the state Monday that we would receive about 400 doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week. The shipment arrived Tuesday.
We had requested 2,500 vaccine doses from the state for this week but were initially informed that we would not receive any doses. We were pleased to later receive notification that we would receive a limited allocation midweek.
With support from our partner agencies, we are standing up our community vaccine clinic in Bremerton for one day this week to administer the allocated doses. As part of our ongoing work to support equitable access to COVID-19 vaccine, we are making appointment slots available to people who are eligible for vaccination under Phase 1b1 of the state's vaccination plan, but do not have internet or computer access, or have other barriers to signing up for appointments.
Our team will reach out directly to community members who have already contacted Kitsap Public Health for help and assist them in booking appointments over the phone. Appointments for this limited event will not be opened to the general public.
"We are are committed to making sure everyone who is eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine is able to access vaccine, and nobody in our community is left behind," Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Gib Morrow said. "We are excited to be able to provide more than 400 appointments this week to people who need additional assistance getting signed up."
Kitsap Public Health will continue requesting vaccine allocations from the state and will announce additional clinic openings as soon as possible. Please sign up to receive notifications by email or text and check kcowa.us/vaccine for updates.

KEEP FIGHTING COVID-19
COVID-19 vaccination is underway in our community, but it will take months for vaccination to become available to the majority of Kitsap County residents. While we wait, remember to:
-
Continue fighting the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the "Three Ws":
-
Wear a mask
-
Wash your hands frequently
-
Watch your distance: stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don't live with
- Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 pandemic.
-
Stay informed about vaccine rollout and be ready to get vaccinated when eligible.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!
