COVID-19 vaccine supplies remain limited statewide; Kitsap Public Health clinic will not reopen next week
Kitsap Public Health District will not receive its requested vaccine allocation for the week of Feb. 7-13.
COVID-19 vaccination is progressing in Kitsap County and across Washington state, but the supply of vaccine remains very limited.
This week, the Washington State Department of Health reported that healthcare organizations statewide requested 358,000 first doses of vaccine, but the federal government distributed only 107,125 doses to our state (less than one-third of the amount requested). This means vaccine supplies are being spread thinly to hundreds of providers across Washington.
Kitsap Public Health was notified Friday that we will not receive our requested vaccine allocation for the week of Feb. 7-13. Without any vaccine to administer, will not be able to open our community vaccine clinic for a second-straight week. We will continue requesting vaccine from the state and announce additional clinic openings as soon as vaccine becomes available.
Several healthcare providers in our county have indicated to us that they are not receiving allocations for next week. Some providers are receiving vaccine supplies reserved for second doses (two doses of COVID-19 vaccine are required for full immunity). We expect appointments for first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to remain limited in the near future. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Key updates
-
As of this week, more than 10% of Kitsap residents (about 27,000 people) had received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and about 2% were fully vaccinated with with their second dose. Find more local data on our vaccine page.
-
More than 773,000 Washingtonians have received their first dose. The state is averaging about 28,000 vaccinations daily.
-
A portion of our state's vaccine allocation is being used to supply mass vaccination sites in other parts of the state. The state Department of Health is also prioritizing distribution of second doses. This is limiting the number of first doses available to local vaccine providers.
KEEP FIGHTING COVID-19
COVID-19 vaccination is underway in our community, but it will take months for vaccination to become available to the majority of Kitsap County residents. While we wait, remember to:
-
Continue fighting the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the "Three Ws":
-
Wear a mask
-
Wash your hands frequently
-
Watch your distance: stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don't live with
- Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 pandemic.
-
Stay informed about vaccine rollout and be ready to get vaccinated when eligible.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!
