 First death associated with COVID-19 reported in Kitsap County
KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Kitsap Public Health District has confirmed the first death associated with COVID-19 in Kitsap County.
The Kitsap resident who died was an older adult who had tested positive for COVID-19 and had underlying health conditions.
“We were saddened to learn of the death of this community member and our hearts go out to their family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Susan Turner said.
“As a community, we must do everything we can to slow the spread of this illness and protect our neighbors who are most at risk. Please continue to stay home, wash your hands, and clean your living spaces. These simple steps can save lives.”
To protect private health information, Kitsap Public Health will not release additional details about the person who died. Additional deaths that are confirmed in Kitsap County will be reported at kitsappublichealth.org.
As of April 6, more than 1,900 Kitsap residents had been tested for COVID-19 and 111 positive cases had been reported. Positive cases have been reported in all areas of Kitsap County.
