BREMERTON, WA — Kitsap Public Health District is hosting the first-ever West Sound Care event in Bremerton on June 22, to connect and educate people living with HIV, and reduce stigma associated with the condition.
People living with HIV in Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap and Mason counties, along with their friends, family and health care providers, are invited to attend the free, day-long event. Workshops, panels and speakers will address topics including health, medical case management, aging and stigma.
"We want to reach as many HIV-positive residents in the West Sound region as possible," Kitsap Public Health District HIV program manager Betti Ridge said. "We know living with HIV can be an isolating experience and we hope this event will help attendees feel connected to a broader community, while learning more about their illness and resources available to improve their lives."
