Revisions to Kitsap Public Health District fee schedule proposed
This notice provides an important update for both temporary
and permanent food permit holders in Kitsap County
The Kitsap Public Health
District is proposing changes to the Environmental Health fee schedule. The Kitsap
Public Health Board Budget Policy directs the Kitsap Public Health District to
recover the cost of service for fee-related services. Based on a recent review
and evaluation of Environmental Health service fees, the current hourly rate
used to calculate each fee is no longer sufficient to recover the cost of
service. The base hourly rate has not been adjusted since 2009. An increase in
the base hourly rate is needed to recover the full cost of services.
Permit fees are determined by the actual
time it takes to perform mandated inspections. While the hourly rate is proposed to go up, some food
establishment types may see a decrease in cost due to reduced time needed to
perform inspections. This is due to time efficiencies realized through the
recently adopted electronic food inspection process.
Proposed changes that impact temporary food establishments
include temporary permit late fees for for applications submitted less than two
weeks prior to the event as per required in WAC 246-215.
The revised
fee schedule and additional information is available for review on the
District’s website, and the public and businesses are invited to
submit feedback or comments in any of the following ways:
Feedback
on the proposed fee schedule will be accepted until Wed., Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m.
