South Kitsap Area

NEW - SE Southworth Drive
(between SE Olympiad Drive to 500' south)
This road closes September 21 for up to eight weeks as part of the Harper Estuary Restoration Project. Click here to read the news release. Clickhere for the project page.

NEW - Side approach work at various locations in SK

County crews are completing side-approach work at several locations in SK this week. Expect short delays of up to 5 minutes in the vicinity of the work at these locations:

  • Jackson Avenue SE between Salmonberry and SR 160
  • Lund Avenue between Madrona and Jackson
  • Collins Road between Woods and Mountain View
  • Chester Road between Woods and Alaska
  • Bethel Burley Road between Burley Olalla and Pine

NEW - Valley Avenue E
(between E Madrone Avenue and E Maple Street)
County crews are working here all this week. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work.

ONGOING - E Main Street / E Madrone Avenue
(from the intersection of Beach Drive E and Spring Street E to Alaska Avenue)
This road will be closed from May 2 through September 16 for phase 3 of a continuing stormwater project there. Closures are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic will be detoured around the work. Plan for significant delays. Use alternate routes when possible to avoid delays. Click  here for more information about this project.


Central Kitsap Area

NEW - Paving work at various locations in CK

County crews are paving at several locations in CK this week. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work at these locations:

  • Monday - Brownsville Highway NE between SR 303 and Illahee Road NE
  • Tuesday & Wednesday - Riddell Road between Pine Road NE and Perry Avenue NE
  • Thursday - NW Bucklin Hill Road between Central Valley Road and Nels Nelson Road NW

NEW - NE Conifer Drive
(entire length)
County crews are grinding here Thursday and Friday. Traffic will be restricted to one lane. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work.

NEW - NW Newberry Hill Road
(between Seabeck Highway NW and Dickey Road NW)
County crews are working here Thursday and Friday. Traffic will be restricted to one lane. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work.

UPDATED - Silverdale Way NW
(at the intersection with NW Myhre Road)
Lakeside Industries, Inc. is working here overnight, from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday, during construction. Work may include lane closures or detours around the work. There should be minimal impact during daylight hours. Construction continues through mid-December. Project information is available here.

ONGOING - NE McWilliams Road
(at the intersection with Old Military Road NE)
BPCI Earthworks is placing the top lift of asphalt on Tuesday. Traffic will be restricted to one lane at times with flaggers directing motorists through the work area. Significant delays of up to 20 minutes are possible. Alternate routes are recommended to avoid lengthy delays.

UPDATED - NW Taylor Road
(from the Northlake Way NW intersection west 250 feet)
Nordland Construction has replaced the culvert on Dickerson Creek at Taylor Road. Work continues with roadway restoration as this projects wraps up Traffic may be restricted to alternating one land traffic at times. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work area. Expect short delays of up to 5 minutes. This project continues through September.

ONGOING - Old Military Road NE
(between NE Foster Road and NE Fairground Road)
This road will be closed through September 20 for a sewer project. Closures are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured around the work. Plan for significant delays. Use alternate routes when possible to avoid delays.

ONGOING  - Washington Avenue NE
(between SR 308 and the Keyport Marina)
This road has restricted access with daytime closures between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. through the fall of 2016. Kitsap County is upgrading existing sewer and storm water infrastructure, constructing new sidewalks, bulb-outs, and asphalt pavement. The road reopens during the evenings and weekends.  


North Kitsap Area

ONGOING - Hansville Road NE
(between Eglon Road NE and NE Bayberry Lane)
County crews continue a shoulder widening project here all week. Flaggers will assist motorists through work area. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the immediate vicinity of the work. Work continues through September.


Upcoming Construction Projects and Road Closure
(information is updated near project start date)

Coming late September - NE Fairgrounds Road
(at the intersection with Central Valley Road NW)
Nordland Construction NW will begin safety improvement work at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and Central Valley Road the end of September. Motorists can expect one lane of travel open on all four legs of the intersection during construction. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work.

Coming late September - Glenwood Road SW
(between SW JH Road and SW Wildwood Road)
Sound Excavation, Inc. will begin a road improvement project on Glenwood Road—between SW JH Road and SW Wildwood Road. The project will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1 begins the end of September and will suspend in mid-November followed by utility companies relocating their facilities as part of this project. Phase 2 resumes construction in March, 2017 and is expected to be complete by May, 2017. During Phase 1, traffic will be restricted to one lane. Expect moderate delays of up to 10 minutes in the vicinity of the work.
