City of Kirkland Contact: Philly Hoshko January 21, 2014 Now accepting nominations for the Kirkland CACHET Art Awards
Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen, and the Cultural Arts Commission will reveal recipients during the awards ceremony on the evening of April 2, 2014, at the Kirkland Performance Center, 350 Kirkland Ave., Kirkland. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Nominations will be pre-screened by the Kirkland CACHET committee made up of members of the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and volunteers. Final award recipients will be selected by the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and Mayor Amy Walen. The 2013 winner of the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and Mayor’s CACHET Award was Sue Contreras and Studio East. Contreras was recognized for her efforts in fundraising for the restoration of the Capt. Anderson Ferry Clock and for her volunteer support of Summerfest. Her extensive involvement also includes serving on the Kirkland Performance Center Board of Directors, and current membership of Kudos Kirkland. Studio East was recognized for their contribution as one of the area’s largest theater training centers in east King County. For over 20 years the studio has featuring programs in drama, theater arts camps, home school programming, and main stage productions for children age four through 19. Lani Brockman, founding artistic director, accepted the award. CACHET is a subcommittee of the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission.
