Doug Fullington conducts the eight-voice Tudor Choir in a program of unaccompanied carols and motets for the season of Advent. Opening with Spanish Renaissance composer Tomas Luis de Victoria's "Alma redemptoris mater," a double-choir setting of the Marian antiphon for Advent, the concert continues with chant, motets, and carols for the season, including works by Robert Fayrfax, Robert Parsons, and Hieronymus Praetorius. At the Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church Chapel 315 3rd Ave S. A community dance held every second Saturday at the Juanita Community Club 13027 100th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA Join us for a fun evening of contra dances (social dance originally from New England) including a few circle and square dances. For this month, we’ll have Seattle’s old-time music favorites: The Canote Brothers. Twins Greg Canote on fiddle and Jere Canote on guitar and other sting instruments will present their sweet sounding and smoothly played tunes. Laura Me’ Smith calls the dances. Walk-through provided for every dance. Attending with a partner is not necessary. Beginner instruction at 7:30 PM with dance beginning at 8:00 PM. Free ice cream provided during the break!
Admission $8 at the door; $4 for students. If it’s your first time to try, let us know and you’re in for free.

A two-hour interactive arts workshop focused on poetry, visual arts, and theatre for children. Artists from theatre simple, in character from their play Owl & Pussycat, will teach the workshop; Owl & Pussycat is based on a poem by 19th century English poet Edward Lear, best known for his fantastical poems about imaginary creatures. During the workshop there will be readings of Lear’s poems, drawing activities, poetry writing and the workshop will culminate with children decorating Lovebrellas with all the poetry and drawings they create. An award-winning, internationally acclaimed company, theater simple was founded in 1990 by two actors who aimed to strip the theatrical experience down to its elemental parts: the imagination of the actor and audience, the playwright's words and the director's vision. theater simple premieres its latest literary exploration, OWL & PUSSYCAT, made for all ages. This ricochet off the famous Edward Lear poem debuted at the REINVIGORATED SEATTLE FRINGE FESTIVAL earlier this fall. Utilizing Shakespearean couplets, songs, four actors, and a pea green boat, Owl & Pussycat's escapades illuminate a love of adventure and some adventures of love. Fur, feathers and puns will fly. Leroy Bell Leroy Bell & His Only Friends: New Year's Rock & Soul Eve

Party through the New Year at Kirkland Performance Center (KPC) with the arguably the greatest living rock and soul musician in the Pacific Northwest! The "Bell" portion of Gamble & Huff's well-known 1970s songwriting team "Bell and James," LeRoy Bell has written music for Elton John, Gladys Knight & the Pops, The Temptations, The O'Jays, and many more. As the songwriting team "Bell and James," LeRoy went on to sign with A&M Records in 1978 where he created three albums and several hit tunes including "Livin' It Up (Friday Night),” which hit #7 on the Billboard Black singles. Today, LeRoy Bell calls Seattle home, and on December 31, he will introduce his latest album, appropriately titled "Rock N' Soul" at KPC in honor of 2014.

Kirkland Fish Frolic

This is the second Call to Artists for the Kirkland Fish Frolic, where twenty-five fiberglass fish sculptures will be embellished and decorated by selected artists for a city-wide display and Gala Auction. These fish will take part in several displays and events in Kirkland, WA, during the spring and summer of 2014, before being auctioned in celebration of Kirkland, Kirkland Summerfest 2014, and the local and regional artists taking part in the Kirkland Fish Frolic. All artists are eligible to submit an application. The application deadline is Midnight, Sunday, December 15, 2013. January 1, 2014 – January 31, 2014 Opening Reception – January 4, 2014 6-10pm

In January 2014, Vision 5 and ryan james fine arts will be featuring a month long exhibition featuring digital artworks at the Vision 5 building located at 8525 163rd. Artworks to be displayed for the entire month of January 2014.
The opening reception will be on January 4, 2014

Display and Sale of Original Art
Entries must be for sale and priced with the intent to sell. For any artwork sold, Vision 5 and ryan james fine arts shall be entitled to retain fifty percent (50%) of the selling price as commission and shall remit fifty percent (50%) of the selling price to the artist. Please state a price reflecting current market value for your artwork. Vision 5 and ryan james fine arts assume reproduction rights for promotional purposes only.
To make a submission please email sean@ryanjamesfinearts.com and include a description of the works you intend to show, up to 3 photos of the work, a short video if applicable and a brief description about yourself. We are accepting digital artworks in the forms of 2D, 3D, screen, and installation.

Entry deadline is Sunday December 15, 2013.
