Kirkland Seeks Ideas for Totem Lake Park at June 1 Outdoor Workshop
Interpretive tours offered

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The City of Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department invites citizens to offer ideas for improvements to Totem Lake Park at a public outdoor workshop on Saturday, June 1, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  The workshop will be headquartered in the parking lot of the Yuppie Pawn Shop, located at 12031 NE Totem Lake Way, just north of the lake.  Tours of the park’s trails and wildlife interpretive features will also be conducted during the event.

Citizens can drop by to meet with Kirkland Park Board members, parks staff, and design consultants to learn more about the important role that the Totem Lake Park property plays in the community and offer suggestions on how the park can be improved in order to improve ecological value, create a better sense of place for the Totem Lake Neighborhood, encourage future economic development of the business district, and connect with the adjacent Cross Kirkland Corridor.  An overall master plan for the park will be completed in 2013.

Totem Lake Park is a 17-acre property owned by the King Conservation District and managed in conjunction with the City of Kirkland. For more information contact Michael Cogle, Deputy Director of Parks and Community Services, at mcogle@kirklandwa.gov or 425-587-3310.

This event is part of the City’s Kirkland 2035 public involvement campaign.  To receive updates on the Totem Lake Park Master Plan and other long range plans, visit www.kirklandwa.gov/kirkland2035.
