Kirkland Arts Center and the King County Library System, in collaboration with the City of Kirkland, present Looking Forward in Kirkland Arts Center's Gallery. A panel of architects, designers, and artists will discuss ideas for the Cross Kirkland Corridor. The evening will include a short presentation about the Cross Kirkland Corridor, panel discussion, and audience feedback. Joan McBride, City of Kirkland Mayor, will make introductions. Ellen Miller-Wolfe, City of Kirkland Economic Development Manager, will facilitate. Kirkland Arts Center is at 620 Market Street, Kirkland WA 98033

On Thursday, July 12 at 7 pm, The Fabulous Roof Shakers will hit the stage with their fabulous blend of rockin' blues, R&B and soul. The July 17 10 AM show features Caspar Babypants returning in a rockin' solo incarnation. The 2012 concert series runs through August 30. Tuesday children's shows are from 10-11 am. Thursday shows are for all ages from 7-8:30 pm.
The shows are free with a $2 suggested donation per adult.
Bring a chair, a picnic and a jacket.

Seniors Are Artists Too

The Kirkland Senior Council will present the 4th annual Senior Art Show in the lobby at Merrill Gardens at Kirkland, July 12th through 22nd. Titled “Seniors Are Artists Too,” the art show will feature painting, sculpture, photography, quilting, and other media by local senior artists. To open the Senior Art Show, Merrill Gardens will host a reception with refreshments and live jazz with the Kevin Buster Trio, starting at 6 PM on Thursday, July 12th. This event is open to the public, free of charge. The Senior Art Show installation will remain on display in the Merrill Gardens lobby, free to visitors, 9AM-7PM, every day until July 22nd. Merrill Gardens at Kirkland is located at 201 Kirkland Avenue.

A community dance held every second Saturday at the Juanita Community Club, 13027 100th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA Join us for a fun evening of contra dances (social dance originally from New England) including a few circle and square dances. Live traditional folk music and dance caller. This month’s band is Cathie Whitesides (fiddle) & Eric Anderson (piano) with caller Laura Me’ Smith. Walk-through provided for every dance. Attending with a partner is not necessary. Beginner instruction at 7:30 PM with dance beginning at 8:00 PM. Free ice cream provided during the break!
Admission $8 at the door; $4 for students. First time is free.

Arts for All Experience
Stop by the Arts for All exhibit and experience clay throwing demonstrations, drawing activities for the public and kids' art activities. All this is brought to our guests with collaboration of Kirkland's many arts and culture organizations including Kirkland Arts Center, Kirkland Performance Center, Kirkland Choral Society and Studio East.
Art Classes in the Tasting Garden
Bring your love of art and wine together-receive art instruction from one of KAC’s premier teachers while being treated to a Washington wine tasting. Each session's focus is on a different art medium, paired with a different collection of wines to taste. For more information and to register, visit kirklandartscenter.org.
 

The promenade in downtown Kirkland is free and open to the public.
Tickets prices for the Tasting Garden are $15 - $30 (additional fee for Art and Wine classes).
