Parks & Community Services launches new Facebook Page

New Parks and Community Services Facebook page

Want to stay in the loop on all things Parks and Community Services? Kirkland Parks and Community Services’ new Facebook page will give you opportunities to hear about recreational opportunities and connect with Parks and Community Services staff.

In honor of National Parks and Recreation Month, Parks and Community Services has launched a City-wide photo competition: Play, Snap, Win! Take a photo of yourself or someone you know in a City park or recreational program and post it to the Facebook event page with hashtags #expereinceit! and #PlayOnJuly. The top three photos with the most likes will win prizes at the end of July.

 

Kirkland Summer Concerts are back

Summer Concerts start

Kirkland’s 2017 Summer Concerts begin Thursday, July 6. This is the 40th year of this popular summer event series.

The Evening Concerts run every Thursday from 7 to 8:30pm from July 6 through August 17 at Marina Park.

The Kids Concerts happen every Tuesday from 10 to 11am from July 11 through August 22 at Juanita Beach Park.

Sprinkler Park Thursdays start tomorrow

Sprinkler Park Thursday start

Sprinkler Park Thursdays at Lee Johnson Field begin tomorrow, July 6. A variety of sprinklers, suitable for all ages, will be set up for everyone to enjoy and cool off from the summer heat.

These free events occur every Thursday from 12 to 3pm through August 17. Lee Johnson Field is located within Peter Kirk Park. Parking is available in the parking garage under the library.

All ages welcome are welcome, and children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult. Read the press release for more information.

 

Lifeguards now on duty for summer

Lifeguards on duty

City of Kirkland Beach Lifeguards are now on duty from 12 to 6pm every day at Houghton Beach, Waverly Beach and Juanita Beach Parks. Lifeguards will be on duty until September 4.

Lifeguards will be off-duty on inclement weather days or when air temperature is below 65 degrees

Life jacket loaners are available during beach lifeguard hours. Life jackets can help beach-goers with a fun and safe swimming experience.

City Housing Survey

Online housing survey

The City of Kirkland has launched an online survey to collect public input on housing issues in Kirkland. Responses from the survey will inform updates to the City’s Housing Strategy Plan.

The survey can be accessed online and will be open until 5pm on July 15. Read the press release for more information about Kirkland’s Housing Strategy Plan.

 

Traffic Alert: Kirkland Uncorked at Marina Park

Kirkland Uncorked

Kirkland Uncorked returns to Marina Park next weekend from Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 16. Commuters should expect traffic delays due to closures of the Lakeshore Plaza parking lot and Kirkland Avenue between Lake Street and the City dock from 6am on Friday until 10pm on Sunday.

The City’s boat launch will remain open all weekend, however boaters should expect delays and limited access at Marina Park Dock. Over 18,000 attendees are expected during the three-day event.

Green Kirkland Partnership volunteer

Volunteer with the Green Kirkland Partnership and enjoy the long days and warmer weather in Kirkland’s natural areas while helping to restore our forests. All tools, training and gloves are provided.

Join the Green Kirkland Partnership in a forest near you:

Juanita Bay Park on Saturday, July 22, from 10am to 1pm
