Mindfulness
Living in the moment sounds
easier than it’s done, right? In fact, recent research from Harvard shows that
our minds wander about 47% of the time. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could give
your full attention to what you are experiencing at the present moment and put
aside the distractions?
The practice of mindfulness can
help you do just that. Mindfulness is the simple yet powerful ability of the
mind to attend more fully to the present moment. Cultivating mindfulness
results in many benefits for mental and physical health, well-being, and
happiness.
In her Ted Talk, Shauna
Shapiro, PhD, an internationally recognized expert on mindfulness, provides an
introduction to the practice of mindfulness while sharing modern neuroscience
about how it can help us make positive changes in our brains and in our
lives.
According to Morgan Dix, About Meditation author of7 Ways Mindfulness Improves Your Performance at Work, companies like Google, Adobe, Facebook, and the Seattle Seahawks are offering mindfulness programs on-site. And so are we!
King County Employee Health & Well-Being is offering mindfulness classes on several topics through Mindfulness Northwest.
