Celebrating Excellence: Peter Ngo named King County Metro’s Vehicle Maintenance Employee of the Year
If there’s one thing you can count on in Metro’s Vehicle Maintenance division, it’s that Transit Mechanic Peter Ngo will show up ready to skillfully tackle whatever challenge the day brings. Today, he was recognized for his consistent excellence as the King County Metro Vehicle Maintenance Employee of the Year.
Since starting at King County in 2022, Ngo has built a reputation as the kind of teammate every shop hopes to have: Reliable, upbeat and always up for a new challenge. From keeping coaches rolling to championing better health at the 2024 Wellness Fair, Ngo brings a spark of enthusiasm that lifts his whole team.
His work ethic, steady focus and willingness to take on new challenges have made him a consistent example of excellence at Metro. Reliability is essential in Vehicle Maintenance, and Ngo is known for his dependability, say those who know him. Teammates say he brings a positive attitude to every shift and has earned a reputation for being respectful, collaborative and calm under pressure. When extra help is needed on the job, Ngo is often one of the first to volunteer, demonstrating a level of initiative that makes the entire operation better.

RapidRide I Line construction updates
As downtown Renton grows and evolves, King County Metro is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to a dozen bus routes and their bus stops in the Renton area.
The Renton Area Mobility Project supports the City of Renton’s ongoing changes to its downtown and will focus on connecting Metro service to the future Renton Transit Center, located near the South Renton Park-and-Ride.
Opening in 2028, the new transit center will connect Metro bus routes and Metro Flex services with the future RapidRide I Line and Sound Transit’s Stride S1 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, creating a regional transit hub with connections between Burien, Renton, Bellevue and beyond.
Take our survey by November 30 to tell us what you think about the proposed service changes. Metro will use public input to help shape decisions about the proposed network that we will share with the community in mid-2027, when we’ll ask for one more round of input.
Moving Stories: Share your story
Calling all people and communities who take RapidRide! WE want to hear YOUR stories!
King County Metro and 4Culture are working in partnership to produce Moving Stories, a public art initiative that brings together six regional artists to create twelve original short-form graphic novels inspired by the people, places, and experiences that make Metro’s RapidRide network unique.
Share your story online by October 31, or leave us a voice message at 425-952-8132.
