A new chapter for Metro Flex in Northshore and Juanita
We’ve taken a closer look at how people travel in two of our on-demand Metro Flex districts and are fine-tuning their boundaries to reach even more riders. By following the data on where riders start and connect and which neighborhoods are growing, we’ve learned more about how and where people want to travel.
Great customer service means staying in tune with how our riders move around, and these new boundaries will help us deliver even better service in the current Northshore and Juanita areas.
With new boundaries comes one new name: The Juanita service area will become Juanita/Totem Lake. (The Northshore name remains the same.)
Riders can use the Metro Flex app to book on-demand rides and travel to local places and connect to fast, frequent bus service to the rest of the region.

Seattle Seawolves team up with King County Metro to highlight Community Van
A new partnership encourages teams, families and community groups in Tukwila to travel together with King County Metro’s Community Van.
This rugby season, the Seattle Seawolves are counting on Metro’s Community Van to get them to practices, games and destinations across Puget Sound. The best part? Metro riders in Tukwila and 10 other King County cities can rely on the same service to get where they need to go, too!
King County Metro’s Community Van is a convenient alternative travel option and helps fill community transportation gaps, all with the help of a volunteer driver. It’s a reservation-based rideshare service, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The collaboration with professional rugby team Seattle Seawolves highlights how Community Van can make it easier for people in Tukwila and Skyway to get to a match, and for residents across the region to reach appointments, events, daily destinations and more.
It’s easy to reserve and ride a Community Van
Getting started is simple. To schedule a ride, you need a volunteer driver, at least two passengers and two business days’ notice. Riders must live in one of the qualifying areas listed on Metro’s Community Van page. For people looking for ways to give back to their community, signing up to be a volunteer driver can be a huge help for Community Van riders.
an affordable and reliable transit option for families, community groups – and even rugby teams. Youth 18 and under ride free, adult fares are $3, and qualified RRFP (Regional Reduced Fare Permits for seniors) or ORCA LIFT fares are $1. Riders can pay with a monthly ORCA card, the Transit GO Ticket app or Human Services bus ticket. ORCA cards loaded with money for individual rides and cash are not accepted.
We’ll see you on the rugby pitch – and beyond!
