Weekend Service Impacts

Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 13, 14, 21, 24, 27, 28, 33, 40, 56, 62, 124, 131, 132, RapidRide C, D, E, and H Lines will be affected by the closure of 3rd Avenue & Virginia Street from Friday, January 16 at 7 p.m. to Monday, January 19 at 5 a.m. due to construction;

Route 21 will be affected in both directions on Saturday, January 17th for the Seahawk game; stops on portions of 1st Avenue S will not be served; use alternate stops on 4th Avenue S instead;

ST 545 to Downtown Seattle will be rerouted off of SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and I-5 from Saturday, January 17 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, January 18 at 1 p.m. due to construction;

ST 554 to Downtown Seattle is rerouted off I-90 between Mercer Island and 4th Avenue S from Friday, January 16 at 10 p.m. to Saturday, January 17 at 6 a.m. due to construction;

Water Taxi: West Seattle route will run late service on Saturday, January 17th after the Seahawks game. Additional sailings depart Pier 50 at 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. Shuttles from Seacrest (Routes 773 & 775) will run late as well;

- Take transit to all your sporting and community events in Seattle. Metro and Link light rail serve riders heading to T-Mobile Park, Husky Stadium, Lumen Field, and Climate Pledge Arena;

Water Taxi is operating on the winter sailing schedule as of Saturday, October 11;
- West Seattle & Vashon Island routes will be operating normal weekday schedule on Monday, January 19th for MLK Jr Holiday;

Seattle Center Monorail will operate 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. The Monorail will depart approximately every 10 minutes;
- Riders can use Text for Departures by texting their stop number to 62550 to get next departure times;
- Remember, it's free and easy to sign up for email or text alerts about King County Metro service. Alerts can be tailored to your favorite route(s).

The Seahawks hold home field advantage throughout the playoffs, starting with a pivotal third game against the San Francisco 49ers Saturday night, Jan. 17. Bring your energy to make life miserable for Brock Purdy but leave your car at home. Let Metro get you to the game!
You don’t want traffic headaches—give those to the Niners
In addition to not worrying about driving and parking, remember, the Revive I-5 construction project is underway, meaning heavy traffic on Interstate 5 north and south of the Ship Canal Bridge. All the 12s know that taking transit, especially buses connecting to Sound Transit Link 1 Line service, means fewer brake lights, traffic and parking headaches for you!
Get ready for Saturday night by planning your trip to the game using Trip Planner and once you are at your bus stop use Text for Departures (text your bus stop number to 62550) to see when your bus is expected.
And, it’s free and easy to sign up for email or text alerts about King County Metro service. They can be tailored to your favorite route(s).
If you’re coming north or south, Metro and Link light rail are a combo equal to Darnold to JSN! We have buses that’ll take you to the light rail stops along Line 1—from Lynnwood to Federal Way.
If you’re taking the First Hill Streetcar be aware as crowds get heavy near Lumen, its last stop will be at Fifth and Jackson, not at Occidental Avenue.
Coming over from the Eastside? In partnership with Sound Transit, there are three routes (Sound Transit Routes 545, 550 and 554) that will have additional trips to help get you back home again.

More water taxi service lets you “sailgate” from West Seattle
Join the party from West Seattle using the King County Water Taxi to get to the game.
Walk, roll or scoot from Pier 50 to the stadium. After the game, there will be special post-game sailings from Pier 50 to the Seacrest Dock at 8:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Then you can take the free shuttle from Seacrest to the West Seattle Junction (Route 773) or ride along Alki (Route 775)
And don’t forget, if you want to take your time after the game, you can get back to West Seattle by strolling to Alaskan Way South at South Jackson St. and ride the RapidRide C or H Lines.

Metro studying transit improvements on Route 60
King County Metro, in collaboration with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), is studying ways to improve travel times and reliability for Route 60 bus service. This bus route runs daily from 4 am to 1 am, with buses every 10-12 minutes between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm on weekdays. This north-south network connects people from Westwood Village to Capitol Hill via White Center, South Park, Georgetown, Beacon Hill, the International District, and First Hill neighborhoods, where many residents rely on transit for work, school, and essential services.
The Route 60 study seeks to identify investments that will:
- Reduce bus travel times by 10-15% during busy commute times.
- Provide a more reliable service for more buses to arrive on time.
- Improve connections to other travel modes in the area.
- Improve the experience for current riders and attract new riders to use Route 60.

Now hiring: King County Metro recruiting part-time transit operators as bus service increases
King County Metro launched a new hiring push today as the agency seeks part-time transit operators to provide bus service and support increasing service levels. The job posting is available online and applications can be submitted through Jan. 23.
More part-time bus drivers are needed to support King County Metro’s plans to increase bus service in cities and communities across King County. Metro provides great pay, fantastic benefits and a pension for compassionate and service-driven individuals looking to serve their community.
No experience is necessary and approximately two months of paid training is included. Trainees will complete in-house testing to obtain their Washington State Commercial Driver License. Initial training pay is $23.32 per hour, followed by a starting wage of $31.39 per hour once training is completed, and $44.84 per hour within 36 months. A $3,000 bonus also is available for new employees.
Transit operators are the backbone of King County Metro bus service, serving hundreds of thousands of transit riders each day across the county. Potential transit operators are encouraged to apply if they have a commitment to customer service, safety and community. Reliability and punctuality are fundamental traits of successful transit operators, as well as people who are great communicators, enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in people’s lives.

Calling all artists! Create a Metro bus shelter photomural
 Are you a photographer or artist interested in adding beauty to a King County Metro bus shelter? Metro is teaming up with Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) in a call for images to be installed as public art in our bus shelters.
The theme, “Show Us Your World – Cultural Heritage”, is intended to explore personal, cultural identity, and connection, or anything meaningful and important in your life. While all submissions will be considered, artists who want to submit images that represent their interpretation of “Show Us Your World” can present photos that express:
- Culture, values, and traditions that have been passed down from previous generations,
- Contributions of women and gender-diverse people,
- Shared bonds within a community,
- One’s history, identity, and bond to the past, present and future.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of jurors from King County Metro and PCNW.

All photos must be submitted through this online application form which includes submittal instructions as well as detailed information about the competition.
This call for submissions is open to all ages and the website provides information on project guidelines and submission specifications.
