It's Monday, Dec. 15 and some roads are opening and some areas are getting worse. Things are changing quickly, so please stay alert.
Heavy rain over the past week and a new atmospheric river is causing flooding and road closures across many parts of unincorporated King County and nearby state highways. In some areas, roads are starting to reopen, but in others, conditions are getting worse. Things are changing quickly, so please stay alert.
What you can do
Stay home if you can. It’s the safest option. If you must travel, plan for a longer commute and check conditions first:
Stay informed
Safety Reminders
-
Watch for slides. Look out for cracks in the ground, leaning trees, or bulging soil. Stay away and call 9-1-1.
-
Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Never drive through flooded roads. Water may be deeper than it looks and can hide damage.
-
Follow road and trail closures. Signs and barricades are there to protect you.
-
Drive carefully. Slow down and leave extra space between vehicles. Rain makes it harder to stop.
Our crews are ready to respond 24/7 to reports, closing unsafe areas, and clearing what they can as conditions allow.
Need to Report a Hazard?
