Do My Residents Need Additional COVID-19 Vaccines?
Did you know that an updated COVID-19 vaccine became available in September? The vaccines were updated to better protect against the strains of COVID-19 that are currently circulating.
- Everyone ages 6-months and older should get an updated COVID-19 vaccine, even if you got vaccinated in the past.
- Everyone ages 65 years and older should get 2 doses of the updated COVID-19 vaccine 6 months apart. The minimum time is 2 months apart. This flexible schedule means you can get protected when you need it most – before COVID-19 surges, travel, life events, and healthcare visits.
- Individuals who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get 2 doses of the updated COVID-19 vaccine 6 months apart. The minimum time is 2 months apart. A healthcare provider may recommend additional doses.
Scheduling a Vaccine Visit for Your AFH
The In-Home Vaccination Program is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to AFHs through June. Flu and RSV vaccines may be given at the same time. The visits are no-cost. Most insurance plans are accepted. Anyone without insurance may receive free vaccinations as doses are available. If we schedule a visit for residents, caregivers and family members may participate too!
