Aug. 31, 2024: Both directions of 244th Ave NE between NE 30th St and SR 202 near Sammamish are now open to traffic. The 8-week-long road closure is complete, but the county still needs to close one lane at a time, 9/3 thru 9/6 during the day. Flaggers will alternate two-way traffic into the open lane. Get details below, on MyCommute or visit the project website.
Sept. 3-6, 2024: Single lane restrictions: Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3rd through Friday, Sept. 6th, flaggers will direct two-way traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day while crews finish up the project. The county will return in late September to add final lane striping once the pavement has cured.
Project overview: Crews dug nine feet into the ground to remove and replace a damaged 90-foot-long retainment wall located below the north side of 244th Avenue NE near Redmond Fall City Road (SR 202). The replacement wall is made with long steel piles, set deep into the ground. They then replaced the soil beneath the road with more stable, compact soil and repaved the road. This busy road connecting Sammamish to SR 202 is now much stronger and more resistant to future slides.
Thank you for your patience throughout the duration of this project.
