Radio Deployment and Transition Date Schedule: In the October newsletter, the Project announced the revised Radio Deployment and Transition Date schedule and activities are still following it. View New Schedule.
-
DAS Properties Need to Hire DAS Vendors: The over 700 properties with public safety DAS in King County need to hire a DAS Vendor to ensure they are prepared for the DAS Migration Process.
The Wave 1 deployment of radios to Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) and Sound Transit Operations/Link Light Rail is in its final stages and Wave 1 Transition is expected to be completed by the end of November 2022.
Agencies should be actively preparing their radio inventory for exchange based on the Radio Deployment Preparation Checklist. Agencies with mobile radios need to proactively provide the Project with the current vehicle asset number per mobile radio ID number to support smooth mobile radio vehicle installations.

Since the October newsletter, the Project has made great progress on delivering codeplugs in collaboration with agencies, which is getting us closer to having more mobile radios programmed and public safety codeplugs ready to program into radios for Wave 2. The following is the general Radio Deployment status per wave as of 11/7/2022:
-
Wave 1 (SPU/Sound Transit Operations): Wave 1 is getting close to finishing up their radio deployment! Last week, 25 of the remaining 28 Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) control stations were deployed (89% deployed out of their total control stations). The Project expects both Wave 1 agencies to have all of their mobile, portable, and control stations by next week! Wave 1 Transition is on track to be completed by the end of November.
-
Wave 2 (Seattle Area Agencies/Public Safety Portables): Now 76% of Wave 2 mobile installations are completed. The Project expects to begin portable deployments to Seattle Fire and Seattle Police soon, after those codeplugs are finalized. As other codeplugs are finalized, other public safety portable deployment will begin. Wave 2 is scheduled to be completed by February 2023.
-
Wave 3 (South of I-90 Agencies): Wave 3 started on October 3rd with public safety vehicles filling in open spots on the mobile installation schedule, and Wave 3 is ongoing. Wave 2 mobiles are the priority. Wave 3 is scheduled to be completed by April 2023.
-
Wave 4 (North of I-90 Agencies): Wave 4 is scheduled to begin in January 2023 and continue until June 2023.
