First Departure From Downtown to Vashon tonight will be 3:30 p.m.
After this morning’s incident at the Fauntleroy Dock limiting ferry service, King County Executive Dow Constantine directed King County Metro to support commuters and residents getting to and from Vashon Island with an additional round trip sailing of the King County Water Taxi.
For pedestrians and cyclists, the King County Water Taxi is a convenient transportation option as Washington State Ferries performs a damage assessment of the Fauntleroy Dock after the hard landing of the ferry Cathlamet.
“Following this morning’s incident, I’ve directed our Water Taxi team to support residents and commuters by operating a special, additional evening round-trip Water Taxi sailing between downtown Seattle and Vashon,” said King County Executive Dow Constantine. “The Water Taxi is a vital part of the regional transportation system, and when transportation disruptions occur, we work in partnership to assist as we can.”
The Vashon Water Taxi provides evening commuter runs from downtown Seattle’s Pier 50. The MV Sally Fox will add an additional run from downtown at Pier 50 to Vashon at 3:30 p.m. to go with its regular sailings at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The Sally Fox departs the Vashon dock back to Seattle with an added sailing at 3:58 p.m., and regular sailings at 4:58 p.m., 5:58 p.m. and 6:58 p.m.
