While the pandemic has challenged nearly every aspect of our community, few have been hit harder than our local food economy. This year’s Local Food Initiative Annual Report shows how King County and food systems stakeholders joined forces for an immediate response to the disruptions caused by the pandemic while continuing to develop long-lasting solutions that will create a more sustainable, more resilient local food economy.

The King County Local Food Initiative 2020 Annual Report highlights significant accomplishments and tracks our progress toward building a stronger local food system in five key areas:

  • Responding to COVID-19
  • Growing the Food and Farm Economy
  • Advancing Equity
  • Building Infrastructure
  • Increasing Access to Healthy Foods

These key areas contain stories about the work King County and food systems stakeholders have done over the past year to support farmers in response to COVID-19, increase sales of locally grown food, and bring the nutritional benefits of that food to more people.
