Subject Transit Alert - Metro operates reduced weekday service on Presidents Day, 2/17; ride transit to holiday weekend events; text your stop ID to 62550

On Presidents Day, Monday, February 17, Metro operates its Reduced Weekday and University of Washington (UW) Reductions schedules.  Riding transit is a great way to get around on the holiday weekend.

Presidents Day bus service on Monday, February 17
While most Metro bus routes in Seattle operate their regular schedules on Presidents Day, some commuter trips do not operate, and other routes have individual trips canceled. Canceled commuter trips are marked with an ‘H’ in timetables.

UW reductions affect designated weekday trips on routes 167, 271 and 277. Canceled UW trips are marked on the timetable with a ‘D’.

Other service on Presidents Day
Besides Metro’s reduced weekday schedule for buses on Presidents Day,

Ride transit to weekend activities
Events
Ride transit to events at Seattle Center, CenturyLink Field and other venues.

Expect some possible service delays due to traffic, crowds and congestion associated with weekend events and construction activities in Metro’s service area.

Even if it is affected by events, construction activities, temporary reroutes or delays, riding transit is still a great way to get to local events and activities, where there is often traffic congestion and limited parking.

Events, reroute start and end times and routing, and other details may be subject to change.  Use regularly published schedules, allow plenty of travel time and expect possible delays.

Saturday, February 15
Valentine’s Day Dash in Kirkland
On Saturday, February 15, from 9:00-9:30 AM, transit service in the downtown Kirkland area
will be rerouted or delayed due to street closures and traffic associated with the Valentine’s Day Dash.

Seattle Dragons XFL Football
Fans heading to the game are advised to expect possible transit service delays before Sunday’s Dragons game at CenturyLink Field. Kickoff time is at 2:00 PM.

Connect 2020
Link service revisions
Through mid-March, Link light rail riders will experience service revisions as Sound Transit
connects the East Link track with the existing infrastructure at International District / Chinatown Station.

Continuing to mid-March, Link service is operating on only one track between SODO and Westlake stations.

Riders will experience reduced service and possibly more crowded trains, especially during peak hours, as Link operates with four-car trains and a reduced frequency of every 13-15 minutes.

Construction
Known construction-related impacts to transit service are posted in Metro’s online Service Advisories table and sent to Transit Alert subscribers.  It’s a good idea to sign up for Transit Alerts or otherwise check for a service advisory before you travel.

Transit service during unexpected or civic events
In areas where there are crowds, traffic, weather or civic events - whether scheduled or unexpected - disrupting normal travel patterns or activities, transit riders are advised to be aware of conditions in their immediate vicinity, such as street closures, detours, police directions, etc., and be prepared for delays or to make revisions to travel plans, such as using a different bus stop or a different route, based on specific circumstances.

During these kinds of events, be prepared for unexpectedly revised traffic or routing, and for delays in transit service. Transit riders are encouraged to know the alternate stops or routes that may be near their starting points and destinations.

Depending on the time and the nature of such events, Metro may not be able to provide real-time information or service updates via email or text. Event start and end times and other details may be subject to change.
