Transit Alert – Seafair Fleet Week: Ride transit to weekend Seafair events, hiking, sports and other activities; expect some reroutes & delays; text your stop ID to 62550

Ride transit to Seafair and community events in and around King County, including to
see ships on the downtown waterfront, the Magnolia Seafair Summerfest through
Saturday; the Lake City Summer Festival and parade, the Umoja parade in the Central
area, the Greatest Party Known to Humankind in the Georgetown area on Saturday,
and hydroplane racing and Blue Angels events on Lake Washington all weekend.

Expect possible delays or service disruptions near event venues, due to closed streets,
and traffic congestion associated with community activities and area construction
projects.

Even if service is affected by street closures, temporary reroutes or delays, riding transit
is still a great way to get to events and activities where there is often traffic congestion
and limited parking.

Ride Metro with your ORCA card, or with a Transit GO ticket on your smart phone.
Transit GO offers day passes at $4 for youths aged 6-18, and $8 for adults aged 19-64.

When buses are rerouted around events, they still usually travel close to the regular
route. Nearly all transit service that operates through downtown Seattle travels close to
T-Mobile Park and CenturyLink Field, or provides an easy transfer to service that does.

The posted start and end times of transit service disruptions related to sporting,
community or construction events may be subject to change. Plan ahead, use regularly
published schedules, allow plenty of travel time and expect possible delays.

Text for departures
Text your stop ID to 62550 to find out the next scheduled or estimated departure time of
transit service at a stop.

Due to varying road and traffic conditions, transit service can operate slightly ahead of
schedule, or may be delayed. Metro suggests being at your bus stop about 5 minutes
ahead of the scheduled departure time for your bus.

Fleet Week highlights
Military members in uniform or with ID ride free through 8/4

Metro Transit, Sound Transit and the King County Water Taxi are proud to participate in
the annual Seafair tradition of honoring those who serve our country.

Active duty and retired members of the Armed Forces ride free on Metro and Sound
Transit buses, Link light rail, Sounder trains and the Vashon and West Seattle Water
Taxis during Fleet Week.

Service members not in uniform, please show military ID to the transit operator upon
boarding, or to fare inspectors when asked. Valid forms of military ID include a Veteran
Health Identification Card, a Uniformed Identification Card or a DD-214.

All other transit riders are required to pay a valid regular fare.

I-90 bus service will not be affected by Blue Angels practices & performances
Bus service operates normal routing across the I-90 floating bridge during Blue Angels
practices and performances this year. A new Blue Angels flight path allows planes to fly
over Seattle without any bridge closures.

Riding transit to Hydro events – through Sunday
Route 50
Ride regular Route 50 service at any time to get near the Hydro venue.

On Saturday and Sunday, August 3-4, Metro will add trips to
Route 50, providing
service every 15 minutes between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to better serve passengers
traveling to the hydro races.

Route 50, which otherwise normally operates every 30 minutes, serves Genesee Park
near the Stan Sayres Pit on Lake Washington, and connects with
Link light rail at
SODO
, Columbia City and Othello stations.

Use the regularly published schedule or text your Route 50
stop ID to 62550, then expect more frequent service.

Other nearby bus service
Besides Route 50, other transit service that travels in the South Seattle area near
Genesee Park includes Metro Route 7, serving Rainier Av S and S Genesee St, and
Link light rail at Columbia City Station.

Metro routes 4, 8, 14, 27, 36, 48 and 106 travel close enough to be walking or biking
options for some people attending the hydro events. Each Metro bus can carry three
bikes on the outside rack. Bikes are not allowed inside buses.

Check the map before you go for walking or biking pathways and distances.

Transit service during unexpected or civic events
In areas where there are crowds, traffic, weather or civic events, whether scheduled or
unexpected, disrupting normal travel patterns or activities, transit riders are advised to
be aware of conditions in their immediate vicinity – such as street closures, detours,
police directions, etc. - and be prepared for delays or to make revisions to travel plans,
such as using a different bus stop or a different route, based on specific circumstances.

During these kinds of events, be prepared for unexpectedly revised traffic or routing,
and for delays in transit service. Transit riders are encouraged to know the alternate
stops or routes that may be near their starting points and destinations.

Depending on the time and the nature of such events, Metro may not be able to provide
real-time information or service updates via email or text.
Event start and end times and
other details may be subject to change.
